Overview
Statistical methods (both descriptive and inferential) are fundamental in scientific fields. Life science disciplines (Biology, Medicine, Psychology) were and are still seminal in providing requests that marked the beginning of new methodologies or the extension of existing techniques. Important examples are Generalized Linear Models, Survival Analysis and, more recently, Mixed Models.
Furthermore, when randomization techniques cannot be employed (in observational studies) the evaluation of potential confounders as well as caution in the conclusions are mandatory.
